Will I live forever?
Jesus has shared his glory with me, a mere human being! As one who believes in Jesus as the Messiah and Saviour, I get to share his glory! Such thought is just awesome!
So, what does it mean that Jesus has shared his glory with me and all believers?
In Jesus' prayer of John 17: 22, Jesus prayed that "The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one."
One aspect of his shared glory is his eternity.
Matthew 17:1-6, Jesus allowed Peter, James and John to see a little of his glory during his transfiguration.
- Matthew 17:2 says, “His face shone like the sun and his clothes became dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appeared, talking to him.
- Jesus speaking with Moses and Elijah indicates that he existed before his incarnation; before he was born via the Virgin Mary.
- It reflects his eternity – the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
It is awesome to know that as believers we serve an eternal deity who has also given us his glory, his eternity.
- “ I have given them the glory that you gave me” (John 17:22), indicates that he has given us the substance of his eternity – eternal life.
- This aspect of eternal life gives clarity to what Jesus said to Martha, “ I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who believes in me will never die”, John 11:25-26.
That is eternal life, my friends. You and I who believe in Jesus, share in the glory of his eternal life. Hallelujah!!
As believers in Jesus, we share His glory; of His eternal life. It means that though we die, yet we will live forever with Jesus in heaven!!
